Model garage has been my garage for more than 20 years . It deserves its name on all counts: fast and easy appointments; impeccable service and last but not least, the people who help you are friendly and efficient. At Model Garage we also get a chance to appreciate their musical talents at the parties they put on once a year. A real asset for the community.

I usually don't get my car worked on in Berkeley, but I had a no start car (2001 Toyota) and I needed a nearby mechanic. I ended up having the car towed to the Model Garage as was it was the closest place. I was very happy with my experience there. Getting the car towed there was easy, they were very clear to me about charges, telling me upfront the cost for the diagnostic and calling me before doing any further work. When I agreed on the work, they gave me a cost upfront, not hidden fees or extra costs. This was really important to me because I don't want to sink a lot of money into an old car if I don't need too. The customer service was excellent, they answered the phone promptly and were able to help me immediately each time I called (for drop-off and to check on the repair progress). I am not very knowledgeable about cars and they were extremely patient with me, even agreeing to call my dad to discuss the repairs (as he could make an more informed decision then me) before going forward with work. I will be taking my car there again in the future and highly recommend them to anyone else.

Brought my Lexus 200NXt in for 30,000 check up after reading positive reviews about The Model Garage. I prefer working with small, local businesses and they did not disappoint. Shop is very clean, staff are all very friendly and helpful. Services were described clearly and car was ready when anticipated. I’ve been driving around for a week and all is well. Much happier than with using Lexus dealership who were often slow in providing service and I never had the same service person to work with.

I picked up a 2010 Volvo XC70 a few months ago. The vehicle record said services had been performed on schedule, but I wanted to get the Model Garage familiar with the car. I was also experiencing some engine noise. MG quickly diagnosed the noise as an engine mount. They found a software update due and applied it. As always the experience at MG was good, and gives me confidence that my new used vehicle will be in good hands going forward.
