I did not bring my car to The Model Garage by happenstance. I had an emergency just before Thanksgiving and went to Ackerman's. Bruce Ackerman could not handle the work immediately and he suggested The Model Garage. A reputable mechanic actually recommending another dependable Volvo mechanic. I have been to two "expert" Volvo mechanics before and been dissatisfied with the results and was wary. Don was kind enough to take a look right away and solved the problem and that electromechanical issue stayed fixed. The Model garage is not inexpensive, but excellent mechanics rarely are but their work is impeccable and they are honest about the cost. Volvos and indeed most European cars are expensive to maintain, having owned a BMW 540i before I don't know if I owned the car or the other way around... I highly recommend Bruce, Robert and Co. They do great work.

The best, the only place I would take my vehicle. My Toyota truck stayed brand new since I bought it in 1994. And the car before it, a Datsun 1975, was brought back to life by Peter and Don in 1983. I have been a customer ever since. The people at the model garage take such good care of your car that you know you are in good, trusting hands. Peter is gone (RIP) Don is retired now, Gale who took such a good care of my truck, is now a happy grandmother. My truck still purs taken care by Robert now. Quick diagnosis of need for new alternator and another issue draining my new Interstate Battery !!

My first time and just for a minor service. So, so different from going to the Toyota dealer in both Oakland and Berkeley. I was dealt with in a friendly, transparent, honest manner. It was easy to make an appointment, drop off my car and pick it up. Half the cost of going to the dealer. Received good referrals for having my tires repaired. And also very good locatio—-close to BART. So delighted I discovered you!

Exceptional service. I work in retail, for a company that has high values and arguably the best customer service. That being said, I usually expect the same service in return and usually it disappoints me. The people that work here are honest, have empathy, and understand people and how to treat them. I have had service done here twice, both times last minute, and they did everything they could to make it happen. I appreciate you guys. Prices are higher than your typical shop, but you will leave feeling well taking care of and a priority at the least.
